Benefits of becoming a trained disaster responder/partner
member:

Enroll in the Red Cross Volunteer Disaster
Services Workforce to expedite the ability to deploy for national disaster
relief operations.
- Get involved in local disaster relief
for single or multi-family house fires
- Maintain identity as a member of their
agency
- Enroll as a Red Cross volunteer
- Take additional Red Cross disaster
training
- Participate in other services of the
Red Cross such as:
- Blood
Services/Service to the Armed Forces/Preparedness Health & Safety/Volunteer
Services
Successful
completion of the Partner Disaster training provides members skills and
knowledge to provide disaster relief services in one of the courses below:
Community Disaster Education
This
course provides information about ways partner members can teach community
disaster education information to individuals, organizations, agencies and
faith-based groups to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies and
disasters.
Shelter Operations
Shelter
Operations is designed to give participants an overview of the American Red
Cross policies and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter
during a disaster. The course is
designed to prepare shelter workers how to effectively and sensitively work as
a team while meeting the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster.
Disaster Assessment
The purpose of this course is to provide a
general overview of the tasks performed Disaster Assessment
workers in support of a disaster relief operation and a local incident such as
a single or multi-family fire.
ERV Ready Set Roll
This course is to prepare workers to operate
an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and its equipment safely and effectively to
meet feeding and other service needs of people affected by disaster.
*Prerequisites --Must be at least 21 years of age, a valid driver’s license, a
clean driver record, verified by a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) report)
and successful completion of the ERV road test (the ERV road test will
scheduled at a later date). Other
requirements for deployment include current First Aid & CPR and successful
completion of approved defensive Driving course.
